Asphalt 9: Legends is a fast-paced racing game where you can choose from a variety of flashy sports cars. There are many tracks to select along with game modes that will mix up the action. Like most racing games, the controls are simple and you should have no problem racing like a pro.

Various Game Modes

There are several game modes to choose from. Each mode has different mechanics and they allow you to enjoy the game in different ways. The main story mode is called Career Mode. This is a mode where you're a new racer with lots of talent looking to rise through the ranks and be the best around. While this game doesn't have a detailed story, the main objective is winning races and placing in the top spots. Certain tracks, cars and other features will be unlocked as you go through Career Mode. It's a good idea to start with this mode so that you can get used to the controls and unlock everything in the game.

If you want to race against real people instead of computer-controlled racers, then try the Online Multiplayer Mode. As long as you are connected online you can race against several other people. These can be friends or you can choose to be matched up with random people. Much like Career Mode, you'll be racing to see who is the best.

The Elimination Round mode forces you to go fast no matter how difficult the track is. This is a timed race players will be eliminated if they don't cross a specific area in a certain amount of time. You'll keep racing until all but one racer is eliminated. This is a fun mode where any mistakes can be severely punished.

Lastly there are the Daily Events. This isn't a mode, but it's a fun daily challenge that can get you in-game currency or other rewards. Sometimes the event must be done in a certain while other times it only involves a certain action or track. For example, an event could be winning three races in Career Mode or lapping an opponent in any game mode.

Number of Cars

A racing game is only as good as the car selection. You want great cars that look like they can go fast and aggressively win races. Some racing games create their own cars while others use real models to make it feel like you're actually racing. Asphalt 9: Legends uses real cars and there are plenty to choose from. You can select from about 50 different cars made by Mitsubishi, Porsche and other top brands.

You won't get the best cars when you start. The initial cars are basic. You will need to unlock the best cars either by winning certain races or buying them with the in-game currency you get by playing the game. You can also upgrade the cars to make them looking better and to improve their performance. While you'll have to play for many hours to get all the cars, it shouldn't take too long to unlock a few cars from your favorite brand.

Number of Tracks

Asphalt 9: Legends has an impressive number of tracks. You can select from over 70 different courses and they are all unique. Some will be held in stadiums, others on the street and some through winding forests. This ensures you can choose from many different environments so that you never get bored.

At the same time, what might annoy some people is that the tracks are fairly short. Most of them can be completed in less than a minute. Some of them can even be finished within 30 seconds. This might not be too bad in modes with multiple laps, like Career Mode, but the race might feel too quick if it's just a single lap.

Some people feel the tracks should be longer while other people are happy they can finish a race so quickly. This is a matter of opinion and each player seems to have their own take on this.

Graphics

The Asphalt line of racing games has always been known for having wonderful graphics. This is a franchise for true car and racing lovers. If this describes you, then Asphalt 9: Legends won't disappoint. The cars look very realistic and that's because they're modeled after real cars. The 3D models look exactly like some of the top cars and you'll feel like you're right in the driver's seat.

Not only do the cars look great, but the tracks do as well. While the tracks might be short, the details are realistic and fantastic. You can tell that a lot of care and attention went into making these tracks. Even when driving at high speeds you'll notice that everything looks realistic.

Real Money Purchases

Like many modern games this one has purchases you can make with real money. These purchases allow you to unlock cars and upgrades faster than winning the in-game currency. Most of the things you can buy with real money can also be bought with the in-game currency, but it can take many hours of racing until you have enough to buy that car or upgrade.

While this game does have many opportunities for spending real money, you don't have to. You can still enjoy the game in its entirety without spending a penny. At the same time, if you would rather just unlock your favorite car quickly without spending hours of your time, then you can spend a few dollars instead.
